There are several versions of this movie, but
it's the '54 version that I truly enjoy. Judy Garland is at her starry-eyed
best as the tragic star. Sure it's heavy on
melodrama, but it's still got Judy and her fabulous voice. You have to fall in
love with it.
The truly sad thing about this flick is that the
original print was damaged
and when the film was restored, they couldn't save some of the scenes. So,
instead you get some still pictures with the dialogue stuck on top -- it's a bit
disconcerting.
