Even I'm surprised to find this movie so high
on my list -- but I have to admit I love it. Dame Judi Dench is absolutely
fascinating as Queen Victoria. As far as I'm
concerned, Judi IS Queen Victoria!
This is a surprisingly funny and touching story
strung together based on character instead of costume. The accents are so thick
you may
wish for subtitles, but suck-it-up, if you pay attention, you'll pick it all up!
If you missed this movie when it hit the theatres, see it now! The fact that
Dame Judi didn't get an Oscar is a real
shocker.
